When we know what we have we can be content. (Hebrews 13:5) 

The divine power of the Lord has given us all things. (2 Peter 1:3)  

Everything we need for life He has given us for our lifetime.  

What things specifically do we have?

Grace for the gift. (Ephesians 4:7) 

The measure of faith. (Romans 12:3) 

A given number of days. (Psalm 139:16) 

Salvation. (Ephesians 2:8)

We should consider what things have us that are keeping us from walking in what we have.

I recently realized coffee had me.  Social media had me.  The need to be noticed and affirmed had me.  Comfort food had me.  

Those were weights I slowly became good at accommodating.  

Getting rid of them was extremely painful and I am still putting them all down. 

There is a beautifully poetic and powerful worship song that is currently popular. The song no doubt reaches the broken hearted, down-trodden and lost. It touches our hearts no matter how long we have been in the faith and reminds us of our inability to have done anything about our willful sin and disobedience against a God who demands justice. 

What I don’t like about the potentially mis-applied side of this message is the tendency it has to eclipse what we do have – by exalting the “undeserving recipients” part to an extreme.   

What do we do once we have run into the accepting redeeming love of the Father?

Walk free from sin. Not remain in grace abounding willful sin.

Maybe grace is demonstrated even more powerfully in a set apart life then in a sloppy sin-filled one.

Get excited about the overwhelming never ending wisdom of God.

The power of God.

The manifest presence of God.

The plan of God.

The purpose of God.

We might refresh our pursuit of a disciplined life.

Denying the flesh.

Living as dispensers of grace.

Walking with power and anointing.

Living a life we do deserve. 

Because He so loves us and we are His.
