Social Media Sharing

“I pray that the sharing of your faith may become effective for the full knowledge of every good thing that is in us for the sake of Christ.”

Philemon 1:6 ESV

This is a little blog post just to test the social media sharing ability of my new blog. I want to see what the posts look like on twitter and facebook.

Effective sharing has been a challenge for me. Someone once said that we haven’t truly communicated until someone has heard and understood our intended message.

Effective sharing is the challenge. Anyone can share.

It helped me to see it this way. Sharing isn’t when I give someone a slice of pecan pie. Sharing is when we both order a piece and enjoy it together. We talk about what we love about the pie. We describe the tastes and marinate in the experience from our unique perspectives. While our pie eating experience may differ, we have both experienced the eating and enjoyment of pecan pie.

Or one of us hates pecan pie and the other loves it, but we still ordered the same pie and shared the pie as well as the pie eating experience. We shared the restaurant and the atmosphere during the pie tasting.

I don’t want to give someone a piece of my mind. I don’t want to share in that way any more.

I want to have a conversation the helps us both discover the value of the position and perspectives we both hold. In that way we share perspective. Even if in the end we disagree. We will at least have authentically shared a perspective. And neither one of us was force fed the other’s piece of pie.

One of the goals of my blogging is to keep the posts short and thought provoking. And here is a little Easter Egg I won’t mention any where else. But each post will have exactly the same word count. A number that has become significant for me spiritually.
